Questions and Answers  (Q & A)

Quite frankly, I can’t blame anybody that fears reserving a place that they have never seen online.  What we have tried to do online is create an accurate image of our facilities.  Most all guests say that our on line pictures and descriptions do not do our resort justice.  We are OK with that.  We would much rather our guests be pleasantly surprised!

With this in mind, we have created a list of the most common questions, and honest answers.

There are tons of places to stay in Ogunquit – why should I stay at The Admiral’s Inn?
This is my favorite question.  Let me tell you what we are:  We are a clean, very well located friendly place where our ultimate goal is to make your experience at The Admiral’s Inn totally awesome.  If you have attitude and are looking for the Ritz, or if you cannot accept a diverse clientele, The Admiral’s Inn may not be your place.  If you are looking for a romantic getaway or a place where you can hang out with other guests by the one of the two heated pools, fire pit, or lounge, we are your place.  Come see why one guest wrote “A week at The Admiral’s Inn is like a year of therapy!”

Is your property a hotel or a Bed and Breakfast?
Both.  We have two B&B/Inns on the property.  The original Admiral's Inn is a renovated 17 room Bed and Breakfast and lounge.  In May 2008, we also added a  21 room Bed and Breakfast/Inn, formerly called the White Rose Inn on our nearly 3 acre property.  We also have a new (July 2007) hotel which has large rooms with either king beds or 2 queen beds.  All buildings share the many amenities the property has to offer.

How far a walk is it to the beach? Clubs? Restaurants?
It takes me about 3-5 minutes to walk to the village center, and about another 3-5 minutes to walk to the beach.  We are the 6th house south of the center of town.  The clubs are all located in the center, so they are only 3-5 minute walk away.  Restaurants are anywhere from a 2 minute walk to a 15 minute walk.  Notice how I say “walk” to everything?  In the summer, you do not want to have to get into your car.  The traffic here is awful!

What are the rooms really like?
There are really three types of rooms.  The hotel rooms are large (350 ft2) rooms with nice granite countertops, coffee makers, flat screen TVs, irons, ironing boards, hair dryers, and “wicked” comfy beds with tons of pillows.  It is what you would expect in a higher end hotel.

The Bed and Breakfast/Inn has rooms with either a king or queen sized beds and are typical of a newly renovated B&B.  The beds are all new, and the furniture is mostly antiques.  We don’t have a lot of fluffy curtains, and rooms overstuffed with furniture.  The rooms are smaller, clean, and colorful.  Most have there own separate entrance to outside.

The last type of rooms are in new Bed and Breakfast/Inn (the old White Rose Inn).  The rooms are still considered part of the Bed and Breakfast, but are larger suites, with some having kitchettes, jaccuzzis and fireplaces in the rooms.

What is there to do in Ogunquit and the area?
Simple: a lot and not a lot.  It really depends on you.  Ogunquit is a quaint village with a lot of community-based activities.  The world-renown Ogunquit Playhouse is right down the street as are the Booth Theatre and Ogunquit Performing Arts.  Ogunquit boasts a beautiful beach, a peaceful  Marginal Way ocean walk, and the working fishing village of Perkins Cove.  While Ogunquit is known for its natural beauty, the local shopping and restaurants are Ogunquit’s second wonder.  For those of you seeking a more lively vacation, there are 4 clubs within walking distance of the inn.

Still not enough?  Maine’s largest city, Portland, is only 35 miles North of Ogunquit and boasts an active “Old Port” and lots of site-seeing.  Portsmouth, NH is only 11 miles south of Ogunquit and has a great historic district.  Even closer, the factory outlet malls of Kittery, Maine are only 10 miles to our South.  York Beach has lots to do for the kiddies and adults alike, and it is only 4 miles to our South.

For you outdoor enthusiasts -  There are 3 golf courses in the area (Cape Neddick Country Club, Ledges Golf Club, Outlook, and Sanford Country Club), and there are places to rent Kayaks for both fresh water and salt water kayaking.  Hiking or biking up Mount Agamenticus, only 7 miles from the inn, is a must.

Do you offer any discounts and/or specials?
Why yes we do.  All specials that are being offered are located on our “Internet Specials” page.

Do guests in the hotel get breakfast?  What does breakfast consist of?
While guests in the hotel do have their own coffee makers, they do not get breakfast.  Guests in the Bed and Breakfast do get breakfast included in their stay.

Continental breakfast on and mid season consists of waffles, waffle syrup, muffins, english muffins, toast, assorted cereals, coffee, tea, orange juice, cranberry juice, water, and milk.

Are you open year-round?
Yes, we are open 12 months a year!

What times is the lounge open?  Where is it located?
The lounge is located in the main inn.  It is not located near or below any rooms.  It is a friendly lounge where guests and non-guests mingle, watch TV, or play games.  So many places now-a-days do not have common areas for their guests.  We wanted to make sure the lounge and dinning room areas are available to guests to hang out, read, or whatever.  On most Friday and Saturday nights there is a crowd as we do have a piano player for your entertainment.

The lounge hours are posted on the lounge door.

Can I get more information about having a wedding or party at the inn?
We can email you a specially prepared wedding/special event package.

When do I need to make a reservation?
Off season, you are usually safe to make a reservation only a week or two or even a day or two in advance.  But, we start filling up for summer in the Spring.  We are at pretty close to 100% occupancy in the summer, so try to make your reservations as early as possible if you are reserving for the summer.  There are always last minute cancellations, so even if you are a procrastinator, give us a call.  If we don’t have availability, most likely we will know a place that will.

If I were to mapquest your location, what is the exact street address?
The Admiral’s Inn

95 Main Street
Ogunquit, Maine 03907

(207)646-7093

Is parking available and is it free?
Parking is available right on the property and it is free.  We permit one vehicle per room rented.  Additional vehicles may be permitted to park at an additional charge.

Are children permitted to stay in the inn?
Children are more than welcome to stay in the hotel or new Bed and Breakfast.  For the enjoyment of all, the original inn is reserved for adults.  (This may be waived if a group reserves the entire inn.) For the comfort of all of our guests, while we do have a children-friendly heated pool, we do have a 'children-free' heated pool as well.

Can you tell me your pet policy?
While we understand you love your pet, please respect and understand that not everybody shares the love of pets.  The pet rooms are not located next to the other rooms.  Some guests are afraid of pets, so please make sure that you keep your pet leashed.  Pets are not permitted in the hotel, common areas, and pool area.

While you are permitted to leave you pet in your room, please make sure you leave us a cell phone number where you can be reached in case there is an issue with your pet while you are away.

We ask that you let us know when you are walking your dog, so that we may freshen your room during your walk.

Please make sure you pick up after your pet.

Every guest will receive a list of places where you can walk your pet.

Are there any other charges like local taxes, resort fees, or the like?
No.  Your room rate is simply the rate plus 7% Maine Sales Tax.

What is your cancellation policy?
We absolutely understand circumstances come up where you need to cancel a reservation.  While other places charge one nights’ stay for a cancellation, we will only charge you for the nights’ stay if we are not able to rebook the room.  We are not interested in getting paid twice for the same room.  In the past 4 years, we have never had to charge any guest more than one nights’ stay as we have been able to rebook the rooms.

One word of advice: if you need to cancel, cancel as early as possible!

Cancellation Policy:  Cancellations made 2 weeks prior to arrival are guaranteed a refund less a $25 cancellation fee per room.  If less than 2 weeks notice is given, the entire reservation, less cancellation fee, will be refunded only if the room is re-rented.  Cancellations must be confirmed by The Admiral's Inn.  "No Shows" will be charged for the entire reserved stay. There are no refunds for early departure.
